NYTH- Frân Wen 2023

Furniture and soft furnishings designer

Collaborated with Takuya Oura of Manalo & White Architects on the interior design of this new youth theatre centre. I was responsible for the bespoke furniture and soft furnishings design, tailored to the needs of young users. I focused on creating a youthful, creative, and welcoming space, developed through ongoing engagement with young members of the theatre group. All elements were designed with accessibility in mind, resulting in a bright, flexible, and inclusive environment that supports creativity and collaboration within the young theatre group.

Theatr Clwyd Redevelopment project 2021-ongoing

Children’s Play-area Designer

Designing an innovative and playful children’s area as part of Theatr Clwyd’s major redevelopment. I work collaboratively and flexibly with architects, builders and the creative team, while considering the needs of the local community to create a magical space that inspires creativity and imagination. The focus is on creating a fun, welcoming environment where children can explore, play, and feel part of the magical, imaginative world of theatre.

Nant Gwrtheyrn 2025

Interior Design Consultant for Nant Gwrtheyrn 2025- ongoing

Commissioned as an Interior Design Consultant for this historic Welsh heritage and language centre on the Llŷn Peninsula. I was responsible for the redesign of the on-site retail space, focusing on improving functionality, visitor flow, and visual merchandising to showcase Welsh merchandise. In the next phase,  I will look at the integration and display of Welsh art within the interiors of the site’s restored cottages, ensuring that the work of contemporary Welsh artists is thoughtfully curated and celebrated. The result will be a more engaging and culturally rich environment that strengthens Nant Gwrtheyrn’s mission to showcase Welsh heritage through both language and design

Theatr Clwyd temporary foyer 2022

Designed a large temporary foyer to welcome visitors while Theatr Clwyd was being redeveloped. The goal was to create a relaxed and airy space that felt both welcoming and comfortable. I focused on making the foyer practical and easy to use for everyone, including those with mobility needs. My design balanced function with style, providing visitors with a comfortable place to gather and a great first impression, all while supporting the theatre’s commitment to inclusivity and hospitality.

A Contract to design and create interesting visual aspects for specific areas of the field. The main work was to develop branding, create a sense of atmosphere and purpose for three specific areas of the Maes at the Flintshire Eisteddfod, namely The Tipi, The Performance Stage, and Pentre Mistar Urdd, as well as general branding around the Maes.
